It is easier to ask for forgiveness then it is to ask for permission.

So now, are we supposed to applaud?

i don't know what you mean about applause but the scenarios seem so different to me and i don't understand why we would applaud any over the other

i think to have to ask for forgiveness means that person is already in a position of brokenness and desperation. and when you're desperate, you plead for anything.

to ask for permission means you're still in a state of power and control. and you still have your pride about you because no one has ripped it away. so hence it's not as easy to ask, since you're not brought down on your knees yet.

I knew my mother wouldn't want me to get my ears pierced. So I did it without asking for permission and just apologized later after the fact. But whatever, I had done it.

I'm just cynical about the political state of affairs down south.
