"Did you always know?"
"Know? Oh no, I never knew. But I always believed"

~ Dialogue between Oracle and the Architect in the Matrix III

Let us be aware of where we stand in this world, that while knowledge implies authority and power, and ultimately trust in the self and its aquired knowledge, belief entails humble faith and depends on the existance of external factors and beings.

And in my world (as I am starting to note that my world isn't necessarily congruent with the world at large), without the power of institutional mass to back you up on conventional religious opinion, you'd have no choice but to live according to conviction Then you'll start to question what's worth being convicted by (and in my opinion, there are a lot other things more pertinent in the world today then issues of creationism, homosexuality and swearing. Things like, apathy, isolation and hunger to name a few).

No, you don't bloody know that God created the world in 6 days, you can only resign yourself to believing it. And while you do, remember that it is but the mere product of your own historicity and social context, and that truth is measured and experienced in infinitely different ways. As God is infinite. So let's not be arrogant, and live with conviction and self-awareness in what we believe. And let's try not to piss of the rest of the world while we're at it.

In other news, I suddenly want to be a hippie.

i think you inevitably piss the world off when you take a stand though.

the world is obsessed with being pc and everything. we've effectively put on blinders for everything in society by making sure that the statements we make are so vague that they can't piss anyone off nor show that they side with anything.

so once we start actually believing in something and taking that side of belief, i think we automatically piss off people who prefer the wishy-washy non-conmittal statements of life.

just some thoughts running through my head.

otherwise, how you doing babe?

No.. I think it is possible to take a stand without making personal attacks. I mean don't unnecessarily get in the way of others. Anger others would be natural of course, but to mindlessly pick on a difference for the sake of being right is just inane. :)

I'm doing great man. i love singapore.

Without knowledge, conviction is nothing.

An advocate for the extermination of world hunger cannot fight for the cause unless he understands creationism and the value of human life.

You will piss the world off regardless of what grounds you stand on, with/without the support of the institution and whether you intend for it or otherwise.

Let's just answer His call - living the passions He has planted in our hearts, seeking truth and extending grace.
